Environmental Geography is a discipline which focuses on the environment and how human activities interact with it. This is quite a wide spectrum as there’s a lot of different factors to keep track of, with the focus being on how humans impact the environment. This discipline started in the early 20th century, but it was in the Cold War period where human activities and the environment were studied.

These days, this discipline is its own field, as the changes in the environment have already had a big impact. So as there’s still plenty of greenhouse gases being emitted, this issue is forecasted to get worse over time. This is an important discipline as it covers human stability and sustainability for the foreseeable future.

Humanity is in constant evolution and learning how to limit environmental extremes. It does well on a theoretical and practical basis. As an example, the link between humanity and the environment and the analysis of the change in climate patterns is theoretical. While field research, planning and analysis of the impact of climate change is practical.

This discipline has one apparent issue which has to do with the actions needed to reduce all kinds of pollution. While some changes can be made globally, such as the removal of plastic straws. On the scale of an individual person, action has to be taken to reduce waste, which then potentially becomes pollution. While many people are aware of climate change, they might not necessarily take the appropriate action to find alternatives, simply because habits are hard to break.

This discipline has a promising future, in the meanwhile, humanity is learning about climate change, once that knowledge is acquired, better methods can be developed to limit the impact on humanity and the ecosystem.
